Capezio Princess Tank Leotard
Here we have another tank leotard from Capezio, this one is a cotton blend rather than Nylon. A benefit of this ballet leotard compared to the last is the addition of a shelf bra and a pinched sweetheart neckline on the front, all of this makes it extremely flattering.
This is an extremely well made and quality piece of dancewear that will last months, it’s also available in a number of colours and looks amazing with a tutu or ballet skirt.
Danshuz Girls Strap Leotard
Tank-style leotards are well-known for looking great with ballet skirts, and this one from Danshuz is no exception.
This leotard for girls is extremely pretty and stylish, with lace detailed back and criss-cross straps. The front is fully lined with a circle neckline and strong straps in the back.
The tank leotard is perfect for class and for performances, but some children have found that after long periods of training the lace can itch, so maybe not for everyday use or for sensitive skin.
Best Long Sleeved Leotards
Capezio Long Sleeve Leotard
Long sleeved leotards are great because they look traditional and elegant in class, but also look like outerwear when you’re heading home if you pop on a pair of jeans or joggers!
This particular leotard from Capezio is made from 90% Nylon and 10% Spandex and has a full front lining on the lighter shades, so it’s not see-through.

For a cheaper alternative, this beautiful long sleeved leotard from Danskin is made with similar fabric and available in similar colors. It’s made from 93% Nylon and 7% Spandex, this means it has a little less stretch that the Capezio version. However, this fabric has great compression for those who like to be held in whilst dancing.
The scoop on this leotard is quite low for some, so a strapless bra is recommended; this leotard is also available in a number of different colors.
Best Halter Neck Leotard
Danskin Women’s Long Leotard
Leotards for ballet or other types of dance with a halter neck style provide an extremely elegant and feminine appearance from the front. I have always preferred having a mesh style halter so it is breathable around my chest – otherwise they can feel quite resptrictive.
This is a beautiful example from Natalie Dancewear, it’s made from 90% Nylon and 10% Lycra so there is plenty of stretch but it is still breathable and non see-through.
There is a hook closure behind the neck so you’re not stretching the fabric when putting it on and a shelf bra lining with moderate leg line.
FAQ’s: How Do I Wash a Dance Leotard?
Depending on the fabric and the brand, washing the leotard will vary.
I always choose to hand wash mine in cold water, just to be safe. But many leotards are completely fine on a cold wash in the machine.
It is ALWAYS recommended to leave leotards out to dry rather than tumble, the heat will ruin the elasticity. Be wary of leaving them to dry outside, the colours can fade quickly.
FAQ’s: How Should My Leotard Fit?
The fit is very important when it comes to finding the best leotard. The neckline should feel comfortable when practicing movements, with nothing spilling out!
The leg line shouldn’t be too high otherwise it will start to rub, even if you’re wearing ballet tights.
